the scuba zone - Canon R50 & Nauticam NA-R50 Review
Canon R50 & Nauticam NA-R50 Review

In spring 2023 I purchased a new Canon R50 mirrorless camera and a Nauticam NA-R50 underwater housing.

This review exists because I am always considering new equipment and upgrades to my underwater camera system.

Update #3 - The Inon macro and Kraken 3000 ring light with the NA-R50 bayonet system. June 15, 2023

I ordered two M67 spacer rings from Amazon to extend the Kraken 3000 ring light threads so they will engage the Nauticam bayonet mount ring. They work perfectly, but the spacing it a bit tight to remove the ring with gloves underwater.

I examined the Inon macro lens, and saw there are M67 threads on the outer ring of the lens. I tried installing the Kraken ring light without spacer rings. It fits, and except for some squeaking of the threads, even after careful cleaning and rinsing, it looks very promising. I plan to take the Inon macro + ring light combination on my next dive. I know the macro will benefit from the ring light.

June 18 I dove with the ring light and macro combination at Chemainus. Visibility was better than last week, and I was able to take many decent macro shots with the rig. Here are a couple that I really like.
